Course Guidelines

This course will explore the ways in which the figure of the Author has been conceptualised in various textual practices.


This course will be taught as a pre-Ph.D. course. It is advised that B.Tech. students wishing to opt for this course should have completed at least two courses in Literature or Philosophy and secured at least Aminus grade in both.


The course will require the student to spend at least ten hours a week on course related work, other than class hours.


The evaluation pattern for the course would depend on the total registration. The following is a model:

The pass criterion for the course would be 40%. ( 35 – 40% = E grade).

Lectures: Attendance will be recorded. Students attending less than 60% classes would not be graded.


Reading Response:
Students would have to submit reports (not more than 500 words) on the various texts included in the syllabus. The reports must be submitted before the commencement of the class.There can be no late submission. Submission is allowed only if the student attends a particular lecture.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Only submit what you have written on your own. Do not copy from friends, internet or books. Plagiarism in any form may result in an 'F' grade for the course. If unsure of what constitutes plagiarism – consult the course instructor.

Deadlines must be maintained. No extensions would be provided. Submissions must be made before the commencement of the class on the given last date for submission.
