Q: What does Karma Yoga mean?
A: Firstly, it is important to understand the meaning of the word Yoga. Here this term is not used in the sense of asanas (physical postures) but instead refers to any process of inner development. According to Indian philosophy, there are four fundamental aspects of human life : emotion, thought, action and energy. And one can approach the process of inner development through any of these or a suitable combination. Karma Yoga is the process which works through action.

Q: What will be the teaching methodology?
A: This course will be purely based on discussions [Socratic method]. No books, no lectures. We shall learn by discussing with each other.

Q: Are participants expected to have some prior knowledge about this topic?
A: No prior knowledge of anything is required. All that is needed is a willingness to share your thoughts and to listen to what others have to say.

Q: Is this course related to Hinduism?
A: In this course, we will only be discussing the universal aspects of Karma Yoga which will be useful to people irrespective of their personal beliefs.

Modules (7 sessions of 2 hrs each):
  1. Introduction
  2. Emotions and thoughts
  3. Can actions generate energy?
  4. Ego and attachment
  5. Honesty, diplomacy and hypocrisy
  6. Freedom : Individual and Collective
  7. Summary

Grading : Only Pass/Fail.
Pass criteria : 100% Attendance. Also, no attendance for late comers or those who leave before the class ends.
