Welcome to Munawar's Home page

Dr. Munawar Shaik has about 13 years experience in modeling and optimization. He has developed several novel mathematical programming models for solving a variety of problems in process systems engineering including: planning and scheduling of batch and continuous operations, process synthesis, and evolutionary computation, thus improving the resource utilization of several manufacturing processes including refineries, petrochemicals, pulp and paper, polymers, and other fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) plants. He received Young Scientist award in 2008-09 from Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA). He has been awarded Young Engineers Award in 2011-12 from Institution of Engineers (India) and has authored several publications and presentations. He is a reviewer of several leading International Journals in Chemical Engg.

Dr. Shaik got his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani (Rajasthan, India) in 1997. After that he worked for one year in a petrochemical plant of Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL). Then he did his Masters in Chemical Engineering from BITS, Pilani in 2000, during which he taught some undergraduate courses for two years. He did Ph.D. from Department of Chemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay (India) in 2005. Then he worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Princeton University (USA) from Feb 2005 to May 2007, before joining IIT Delhi as an Assistant Professor in June 2007. Currently, he is recipient of Kusuma Outstanding Young Faculty Fellowship at IIT Delhi for 2008-2013.
