Judgment and Decision Making

Our current focus is on the cognitive understanding, processing and valuation of key resources across the domains of time, money, food, water and people's lives.

The world is full of information - data and narratives. How do people choose which information to attend to, what to ignore, how to combine different pieces and resolve possible courses of action? Our valuations, preferences, judgments and decisions with real world outcomes are mostly based on the way information is processed. Understanding the cognitive processes underlying how our brains process information can help us yield insights and tackle problems related to fundamental aspects of life today and tomorrow within the intersectional domains of applied sciences. We mainly use experimental methods to study cognitive mechanisms centered around theories related to reference-dependent thinking.
