Prof. Sumedha Chakma is working as Professor and an expert in Watershed Management, Bioreactor Landfill, and Permeable Reactive barrier. He has joined at IIT Delhi in 2014 as Assistant Professor and actively involved in teaching, research, consulting and also in administration. His current research interests include Settlement, Gas and leachate generation in landfill, Infiltration study on different land use and soil type, Landcover and land use change in watershed, Groundwater contamination and remediation, and Development of new materials for Permeable Reactive barrier for different contaminants.
Further, Prof. Chakma is running research projects that received grants from Government and Private organisations. He is presently involved in administrative duties as Group Coordinator for Water Resources Engineering and was also as Warden, Programme Coordinator of Water Resources Engineering, President of Dramatics Club. He is Captain of Table Tennis and received the Most Promising Sportsman Award in 2018 on Republic Day of India from IIT Delhi for his outstanding performance in the Inter IIT Sports Meet.
