Brief Bio:

Dhanya is presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Delhi. She joined IIT Delhi on November 2011 as Assistant Professor, after her graduation from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 2011. Her doctoral research was on Hydro-climatological Modeling using Data Mining and Chaos Theory. Five wonderful years spent in Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore as a Research Scholar and Research Associate enriched her with the nuances of hydroclimatology and chaotic nature of the climate system.

Tewodros Tesfaye (2012 Jul. - )
PhD Scholar, Co-Supervisor: Prof. A.K. Gosain

Tewodros belongs to Ethiopia, with experience in higher education teaching and Industry. He received his Bachelors in Agricultural Engineering and Mechanization from Hawassa University, Ethiopia and completed his Masters in Irrigation Engineering from Haramaya University. His research interests include hydrologic modeling of transboundary basins, climate change impact and adaptation studies on hydropower, environmental flow and irrigation & land use/land cover change studies.


R. Vinnarasi (2014 Jan. - 2019 Oct.)
PhD Scholar

Vinnarasi took her Masters in Water Resource Engineering from IIT Guwahati and Bachelor in Civil Engineering from TPGIT, Vellore. She worked as an Assistant Professor at Sharda University, Greater Noida before joining IIT Delhi. Her research interests include Hydroclimatological Modelling, Stochastic Process, Uncertainty Analysis and Extreme Event Modelling. Thesis defended on Oct. 2019.


Shushobhit Chaudhary (2015 Jul. - )
PhD Scholar

Shushobhit joined HydroX in July 2014 as a Masters student. He further continued in the group as a PhD scholar, since July 2015. He has received M.Tech degree in Water Resources Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Allahabad. His research interests include remote sensing of precipitation, characterization and modelling of error in precipitation, assessment of environmental flow, river water quality modelling and hydrological modelling.


Nikhil Ghodichore (2016 Jan. - )
PhD Scholar

Nikhil is currently working at the Forschungszentrum Juelich (Germany), as a part of the DAAD Bi-nationally supervised doctoral degree scholarship. He completed his masters in Water Resources Engineering and Management from National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. As a part of his dissertation, he also worked on the development and application of loosely-coupled SWAT-MODFLOW model at the Hard Rock Regional Centre (HRRC) of the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Begaum. His current research interests are land surface modelling, land use land cover change, vegetation dynamics and hydro-climatological modelling on regional scales.


Arun Singh (2017 Jan. - )
PhD Scholar (Part-Time)

Arun is presently working as an Assistant Professor at School of Computing Science and Engineering Galgotias University, and works in the areas of Water Quality Modelling, application of Machine Learning for Hydrological Modelling, Web GIS and Optimization Techniques. He has obtained M.Tech(GIS & Remote Sensing) from NIT Allahabad and B.Tech(IT) from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida.

PhD Scholar (Part-Time)

Adarsh took his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut during 2012 and further got his Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Structural Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 2015. He is employed with Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Govt. of India from 2015. After developing an interest in the field of water resources, he joined IITD as part time PhD scholar since July, 2017. His research interests mainly include application of remote sensing in river hydraulics.

Dinesh took his Master of Technology in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from National Institute of Technology Manipur in 2017. Before that, he did his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Pondicherry University in 2014. His research interests include hydrological modelling, hydro-economic modelling, GIS and remote sensing

PhD Scholar

Archana has completed her Master of Technolgy with specialization Soil and Water Conservation Engineering from Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology ,Bhubaneswar. She has done her Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural engineering from College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, OUAT, BBSR. She has worked as SRF in Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), BBSR in 2016. She has also worked as an Assistant professor in Centurion University of Technology and Management, in 2017. Her research interest includes hydrological modeling, watershed management, soil and water conservation.


Mayur Shindekar (2018 Jul. - )
PhD Scholar

Mayur has received Master of Engineering (ME) in the year 2011 from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore with specialization in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. He got his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Civil Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur during 2009. Mayur is employed with Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India from 2011. Being a Masters from IISc, Bangalore; he always had inclination towards research and to fulfil his dream he took sabbatical and joined IITD for his PhD from July, 2018. His research interests mainly include Socio-Hydrology, Climate change, Hydrological Extremes, etc. and it's effects on road infrastructure.


Gauranshi Raj Singh (2018 Jul. - )

Gauranshi is a Postgraduate from Department of Hydrology at IIT Roorkee. She was the topper of the batch of Watershed Management in 2018. Her bachelor's was from Jaypee Univ. of Engg. & Technology in Civil Engineering. Her research interests are hydrological extremes and hazards, propagation and prediction of droughts, etc.


Ishita Bhatnagar (2018 Jul. - )
PhD Scholar

With a B.Tech. Degree in Civil Engineering from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Ishita has focused her attention on exploring the field of 'Disaster Management' from a technical point of view and has decided to dive into the complex mechanics of nature. She holds an M.Tech. Degree in Disaster Mitigation and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Her research interests broadly include Drought Management, Groundwater Hydrology, Integrated hydrological studies, Hydrological Modelling, Hydroinformatics and water policy-making. In this competitive world, she relaxes her mind, body, and soul by either dancing, sketching or participating in dramatics.


Sudeep Banad (2019 Jan. - )
PhD Scholar (Under University of Queensland - IIT Delhi Joint PhD Programme

Sudeep has completed his Bachelors in Civil Engineering from SDMCET, Dharwad in 2013. Thereafter he proceeded with his MTech in Remote Sensing and GIS from NITK, Suarthkal, His dissertation work was on "Comparison of Different Spatial Resolution Wind Vectors Using OSCAT Scatterometer over Arabian Sea and Developing Offshore Wind Maps". He was an intern in IISc, Banglore and worked on Urban Sprawl using Remote Sensing. He has 2 years' experience in academia, and was associated with IIT, Kharagpur as Jr. Project Assistant working on Hyperspectral Remote Sensing and Land Surface Temperature. He was the Post graduate student's representative in NITK, Surathkal during 2014-2015. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football and cycling. He is a person who believes in seeking knowledge from his daily experiences and can be found in places where there is humour and food.
