PROCEDURE :

Step 1. Learning basis html codes used in website making

• IMAGE TAG - HTML images are defined with the < img > tag.
  The source file (src), alternative text (alt), width, and height are provided as attributes
• HEADING TAG - HTML headings are defined with the < h1 > to < h6 > tags.
  < h1 > defines the most important heading. < h6 > defines the least important heading:
• LINK TAG - HTML links are defined with the < a > tag
• PARAGRAPH TAG - HTML paragraphs are defined with the < p > tag
• LIST TAG - HTML lists are defined with the < ul > (unordered/bullet list) or the < ol > (ordered/numbered list) tag, followed by < li > tags (list items)
• VIDEO TAG - The < video > tag specifies video, such as a movie clip or other video streams.

  
  For Adding Youtube Videos :

  - Go to the video

  - Click on the share button for the particular video

  - Click on ‘Embed’ to get the autogenerated html code

  - Copy and paste it in the required place

Step 2. Downloading softwares used to create html website

• Sublime Text Editor - A free software used for coding html website.
• winSCP - WinSCP is a free and open-source client for Microsoft Windows. Its main function is secure file transfer between a local and a remote computer.
• MAMP - MAMP stands for ‘Mac Apache MySQL PHP’. It is used to test the files on our local browser before we upload it on the actual server. This is extremely helpful because uploading files again and again on the server is time consuming.
• Imagemagick - It is a free and open source software suite for editing rastor and vector image.
• Kdenlive - It is a free and open source video editing software.




Step 3. Choosing template for my website

www.free-css.com is a free website to choose good templates for website.

Step 5. Uploading file to the IITD Server


WinSCP is the tool used to upload html files to the web server of IITD


• Host Name: ssh1.iitd.ac.in
• Port Number: 22
• File Protocol: SFTP



First logedin then created a folder with name “private_html” as PG students have only access to the website within the campus and copied the edited html files from the local computer ( left side tab) to the server (right side tab) and tested it with url : http://privateweb.iitd.ac.in/~dds196001
