`02 Sep`	Mandatory session at 4:30 PM for all students in SIT 001 (seminar hall) on how to give scientific/research talks.

Course credit: 1 credit
Course components
- Task-1 In-person 15 minute talk
- Task-2 In-person 2 minute lightning talk
- Task-3 Attend 75% of the sessions. For each presentation you attend, you will be randomly asked to ask a question.

Each student must select two research articles from Communications of ACM (CACM).
The articles should be on one of the following broad areas:
- Data and information
- Security and privacy
- AI/ML
- Systems
The selected articles must be research articles.
By 21 August 2026, each student must fill the form and indicate the two articles they have selected. There will be no deadline extensions.
The instructor may override a student’s article/topic selection.
Final assigned articles/topics will be communicated by 31 August 2026.

A mandatory session for all students will be held on 2 September 2026 at 4:30 PM in SIT 001 (seminar hall).
The instructor will discuss how to prepare and deliver scientific/research talks.

The first selected article will serve as the seed article for the talk.
Each student must prepare an in-person 15 minute scientific/research talk based on this seed article.
Students are expected to gather additional relevant material beyond the seed article while preparing their talk.

Each student must prepare an in-person 2 minute lightning talk based on their second selected CACM research article.

Student presentations will be held after the mid-term examinations.
Tentative presentation dates are:
- 7 October 2026
- 14 October 2026
- 21 October 2026
- 28 October 2026
- 4 November 2026
Talks may also be scheduled over two days when required. This will be announced sufficiently in advance.
