Solar Cell

(i) Large area solar cell module

We aim to develop thin-film solar cells, especially organic solar cells and modules. We are working to develop capabilities for high-efficiency device fabrication and super-hydrophobic coatings for modules to prevent efficiency losses arising from soil deposits on the surface.

Fabricated small area organic solar cell of >7% efficiency and then upscaled the process to make a monolithic integrated organic solar cell module with an active area device efficiency of >5%.  The monolithic integrated module consists of seven series-connected devices of an individual area of ~7.2cm2.

(ii.) CZTS nanoparticles used in solar cell fabrication

A core-shell structure of dispersed, uniform, small oleic acid-coated CZTS  nanoparticles (Avg. size~ 7 nm) was synthesized. A solar cell device was fabricated based on Al/CZTS/CdS/TiO2/FTO solar cell. J-V characteristics of solar cell device under dark and light condition (1000 W/m2) and the power conversion efficiency of solar cell is obtained to be ~ 0.65%
