Biosketch

Sahil Bansal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). He completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2009 and his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 2015.

His research broadly focuses on advanced concrete materials, structural engineering, reliability analysis, and uncertainty quantification. A significant part of his recent work is devoted to Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC/UHPFRC), including its fresh and hardened properties, mix design, tensile and flexural behaviour, structural performance, and field applications. His research also involves the development and assessment of UHPC for infrastructure applications.

He has also made significant contributions to Bayesian inference, Bayesian model updating, structural health monitoring, and system identification. His work includes Bayesian finite-element model updating, modal identification, damage detection, optimal sensor placement, and the characterization of modelling uncertainties using experimental observations.
