Welcome to the nano group at the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The group was established in July 2008. We finally moved to our renovated lab in January 2010. Since then our group has been involved in the synthesis and applications of nanomaterials with an aim towards optical applications. The group is interested in studying the changes that can be brought about in nanomaterials as a function of various synthesis parameters. We develop a number of new nano-heterostructures and study the basic principles governing their charge dynamics. Through the links on this webpage, you will also find a number of bio-applications being developed based on these materials. We are also interested in developing materials for photovoltaics and photocatalysis. Please check here for updates on the activities of the group.

1st January 2018: The group welcomes Raman Singh who joins as a PhD candidate.

3rd January 2018: Congratulations Priya and Liza for your work on CuAlO2. It is now accepted in ACS Omega.

23rd January 2018: Dr. Sushma Yadav successfully defends her thesis. Congratulations.

9th March 2018: Successfully completed the GIAN course "Nanotechnology with Colloidal nanoparticles" with Prof. Dr. Nikolai Gaponik.

15nd August 2019: Congratulations Raman and our DFT collaborators Pooja and Saswata: the work on band gap engineering of Cs2(NaxAg1-x)BiCl6 double perovskite nanocrystals is accepted in J. Phys. Chem. Lett.

28th December 2019: Congratulations Arkajyoti, Samridhi and Upanshu for establishing the new route towards synthesis of perovskite nanomaterials and their assemblies now published in Chem. Mater.

22nd September 2020: Jaya defends her PhD thesis titled "II-V compound semiconductor nanostructures based nanoheterostructures". Jaya was a joint student with Dr. Renu Tyagi (SSPL)

27th October 2020: Samim defends his PhD thesis titled "Nanoheterostructures based on the Layered Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Molybdenum Diselenide for Catalytic and Optoelectronic Applications"
