Important Announcement

This is an urgent announcement. Please come and see your graded major answer books on Sunday, May 4th, between 5pm and 6pm. Alternately, you can also see your answer books on Monday, May 5th, between 8am and 9am. Please make sure you clarify all errors in your pre-minor totals at the same time. Course Goals

Pre-requisites

No pre-requisites required. This is a first course in Electrical Engineering. Students are expected to know basic Physics (working knowledge of Maxwell's equations) and Mathematics (calculus, complex numbers, differential equations).

Tentative Calendar

A total of 28 classes and 14 laboratory sessions for each group.

  • Regular classes every Monday 8AM to 9:30AM; every Thursday 2PM to 3:30PM. Exceptions: No classes on Jan 14, Feb 4, Feb 21, Mar 6, Mar 17, Mar 20, Apr 14. Swapped classes on Jan 5, Apr 16.
  • Lab group 1 on every Wednesday 11AM to 1PM. Exceptions: No classes on Feb 6, Mar 19, Apr 16.
  • Lab group 2 on every Thursday 11AM to 1PM. Exceptions: No classes on Feb 21, Mar 6, Mar 20.
  • Lab group 3 on every Friday 11AM to 1PM. Exceptions: No classes on Feb 29, Mar 21, Apr 18; no swapped class on Feb 21.
  • Lab group 4 on every Tuesday 11AM to 1PM. Exceptions: No classes on Feb 5, Mar 18.

Credits

Four credits - three hours of lectures per week, two hours of laboratory work per week. Tutorials will be handed out, and the students are free to solve the tutorials in their own time. Tutorials will not be graded, and hints to solve any problem will be given only upon request.
