Aims & Objectives

  • To facilitate fire research, education, training and technology transfer activities in India to improve overall fire safety in built environment.
  • To facilitate graduate student and faculty exchanges among partner institutions such that expertise will be gained in latest techniques and practices through visits to partnering institutions in India and the U.S.
  • To exchange professional skills, research expertise, test data, observations and best practices between the partnering institutes.
  • To develop a web portal for knowledge dissemination to academia, professionals and practitioners in India.
  • To organize fire design seminars in India for faculty, practicing engineers, researchers and code officials.
  • To support the implementation of latest technologies and design approaches in national codes and standards through active participation in standards development committees.

Funding

The US-India Virtual Fire Center is solely funded by Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF) with a total budget of USD $146,643.
