Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Delhi
The Mechatronics Laboratory at IIT Delhi is dedicated to advancing the integration of mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science, and control systems. Our mission is to design and develop intelligent electromechanical systems that address challenges in robotics, biomechanics, automation, and beyond.
We investigate the modeling, simulation, and experimental validation of mechanical systems comprised of interconnected rigid and flexible bodies. Our efforts focus on analyzing kinematics, dynamics, and control of complex structures—such as manipulators, vehicle suspensions, and biomechanically inspired assemblies—to enhance performance, stability, and precision.
Our robotics research explores design, control, and integration of advanced robotic systems. This includes work on mobile robots, manipulators, and autonomous machines, emphasizing real-time control algorithms, sensor integration, and adaptive behavior. Applications range from industrial automation to assistive robotics and human–robot interaction.
We are pushing the envelope in developing innovative mechanism designs and medical mechatronics. This includes research on compliant mechanisms, precision actuation devices, wearable assistive systems, and surgical tools. Each development is tailored for enhanced functionality, safety, and user‑centric design, bridging engineering with biomedical needs.
Our work in medical applications focuses on translating mechatronic principles into real-world healthcare solutions. This involves designing robotic rehabilitation systems, prosthetic and orthotic devices, and smart diagnostic platforms. The goal is to improve patient outcomes and quality of life through precision engineering and interdisciplinary collaboration.
