In this project, a novel soft computing based approach has been developed for the problem of Avalanche Prediction. The problem of avalanche prediction using meteorological parameters has been formulated as a pattern recognition problem and machine learning has been used for designing predictors for Avalanche. On test data the predictors have produced good results. The technology is now being packaged by a commercial software vendor for use at different sites by SASE (a DRDO lab.) - GIS Based Intelligent Decision Support System
A case based reasoning system was developed in this project sponsored by DTRL for reasoning with terrain data stored in a GIS for a variety of defence applications. The complete design and implementation of the case based reasoning system with its ability to perform rule based adaptive solution construction was the outcome of the project. DTRL is currently using the system for terrain data analysis and going-map (navigational route) generation. - Gesture based interface for Remote Robot Control
In this project techniques were developed for recognition of hand gestures. The classes of gestures considered were: (i) dynamic gestures with continuous change in the shape of the hand (ii) dynamic gestures with discontinuous shape changes and (iii) double handed gestures. These classes of hand gestures have not received much attention of researchers in the past. New approaches were developed for these classes of gestures. Using these hand gestures a robot was commanded for remote visualization. A mobile robot was completely designed and developed as part of this project. - Black-board Based Shell Development
