Introduction

Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu completed Ph.D/MS in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore after obtaining B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Calcutta University. He worked for five years as a Research Fellow and as a visiting faculty at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. Thereafter, he joined Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Delhi as a Professor. Prior to joining as the FIPI (Fed of Indian Petroleum Ind.) Chair Professor (HAG) at IIT Delhi, he was Director of CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar and Director, CSIR-CIMFR, Dhanbad,, Assoc Dean Research & Development, IIT Delhi, Head of Chemical Engineering Department, IIT Delhi.

He has vast work experience on development of Energy Materials and it's application to energy conversion and storage devices, e.g., Electrolyser for hydrogen production, Fuel Cells, Ion-Battery, and CO2 Reduction to Organics and Electrosynthesis. He worked on Oil-Sands Extraction at University of Alberta, Canada specializing in slurry transport and separation of oil and sands.

He has published in high impact journals (270, H-index 50), patents (15) and transferred technologies (2) to various industries and completed 20 Cr. worth of projects at IIT Delhi.

He is a Fellow of Indian Academy Engineering, National Academy of Science of India, Fellow of Royal Soc. Chem. UK, Fellow of International Association of Advanced Materials, Fellow of Institute of Engineers; he received Herdillia Award - Excellence in Basic Research in Chemical Engineering, Dr A. V. Rama Rao Foundation's Research Award in Chemical Engineering/Technology, R. D. Desai Commemoration Medal & Prize, MRSI Medal and SMC Gold Medal.

He is Editor / Associate Editor / Editorial Board member of several international journals published by Willey, Springer, Elsevier, IOP and ACS.

  • Electrochemical storage and Renewable energy source: Fuel Cell - PEMFC, DAFC, AFC, SOFC, Hydrogen generation, battery, super-capacitor and there application in Rural Electrification / Off Grid Area.
  • Interfacial & Electro-Chemical Eng. and Micro-Fluid Mechanics and their application in micro fuel cell, artificial photosynthesis, CO2 reduction & chemical fuel, Bio-sensing - dopamine, glucose, ethanol.
  • Material for water purification, dye removal, and their application in rural sector
