Prof. Siddharth Pandey

Head & Prof. N. K. Jha Chair Professor (HAG), Department of Chemistry

Professor Siddharth Pandey currently holds Institute Chair Professorship (from 2019) at IIT Delhi. After receiving his 5-years Integrated M.Sc. from IIT Kanpur, Professor Pandey left for U.S. where he obtained his Ph.D. (North Texas) under the supervision of Professor William E. Acree, Jr., and worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Instructor at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (SUNY-Buffalo) with Professor Frank V. Bright. In 2000, he joined New Mexico Tech as Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) of Chemistry. After spending 4 years there, Professor Pandey accepted Assistant Professor position in the Department of Chemistry at IIT Delhi, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in October 2006 and has become a Professor in April 2011 (and granted HAG from July 2019). He was a Visiting Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Missouri - Columbia, USA during the academic year 2011-2012. He has received NASI-SCOPUS Young Investigator Award (2009), Excellence in Teaching Award by Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (2012), Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) Bronze Medal (2016), Prof. P. C. P. Bhatt Faculty Research Award (2020), and Distinguished Faculty in Chemistry Award by Venus International Foundation (2022) in recent times. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) (2015) and an Editorial Board Member of the journal Scientific Reports published by Nature Publishing Group.

Professor Pandey's research interests are mainly in understanding interactions within complex fluidic systems. He has been involved in research projects on aqueous and non-aqueous micellar systems, microemulsions and self-assembling vesicles, supercritical carbon dioxide, ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, fluorous solvents, macromolecular solutions, to name a few, using optical spectroscopic tools among others.
