About
Hi, I am Indrajeet Mandal, a Ph.D. Scholar at the School of Interdisciplinary Research, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and a recipient of the CSIR-UGC NET Junior Research Fellowship. My research lies at the intersection of materials science, energy storage, and artificial intelligence, where I develop next-generation glass electrolytes for all-solid-state sodium-ion batteries.
With an academic background in Physics, including a specialization in Solid State Physics, I am passionate about advancing sustainable energy technologies through interdisciplinary research. Before joining IIT Delhi, I worked as a Junior Research Fellow at CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), gaining hands-on experience in electrochemical characterization and battery materials research.
My current work combines experimental materials science with machine learning to accelerate the discovery and optimization of advanced battery materials. I am particularly interested in automating scientific experimentation, developing AI-assisted research workflows, and applying data-driven approaches to solve complex problems in energy materials.
I have contributed to research on solid-state sodium-ion batteries and AI-enabled laboratory automation. As the first author on the AILA (Artificially Intelligent Lab Assistant) project, I helped demonstrate how AI agents can autonomously perform sophisticated laboratory experiments, significantly reducing experimental optimization time while improving research productivity.
Beyond research, I enjoy exploring emerging technologies in artificial intelligence, scientific computing, and automation. I believe the future of scientific discovery lies in combining human creativity with intelligent computational systems to accelerate innovation.
I am always interested in collaborating on interdisciplinary research, AI for science, battery technologies, and open scientific innovation.
