Prospective Ph.D. students
The
Ph.D. is one degree where you learn and grow most and the rewards are great if you are patient with it. The
journey of a Ph.D. tests you a lot and it becomes difficult without
adequate passion. Supervisor only gives you his experience and is a
friend who guides you. The research has to be done independently. If
you are passionate for research, has abilities to carry out research
independently, and are interested in my theme of research, then you can
apply for Ph.D. with me. The
skills that are needed for my areas of interests are communication
engineering, basic maths, or exposure to computer networking. I like to
interact with the prospective students before the actual interview, so
kindly write me an email at abhishek.dixit@iitd.ac.in
Theme of Research
My
general theme of research is to design systems for communications and
networking. It has to be something which can be applied and is useful
to society, in general.
Current Research Themes
I
am exploring research areas related to designing access and indoor
telecommunications network. There are various technologies for that -
radio over fiber, free space optical communication, visible light
communications, optical access networks. These technologies have to be
advanced on both physical and above layer. In that context, I have
floated the following topics of research:
a) Visible light communications network
b) Free space optical communication
c) Radio over fiber networks
d) Optical access networks
