Brief CV :
Dr. Deo Raj Kaushal was trained to be a slurry pipeline designer during his Ph.D. at IIT Delhi and Post Doctoral Research at KIT Japan. He has been an Professor of Hydraulics in Civil Engineering Department at IIT Delhi since 2004. He has visited KIT Japan and KCT Japan as visiting Professor. During his teaching and postdoctoral research, he has carried out several research and consultancy projects. He has worked with several mining, mineral-processing and production companies, either through direct consultation or through collaboration with other companies or research organizations. These companies include: MECON, Weir group, Alquimia Ingenieros, Tractebel Engineering, JGC Corporation, BRPL India, Stemcor Group, Angelique International, JP Kenny and Jaihind Projects Limited. His experience covers all the aspects of slurry pipeline design and he has been actively involved in various types of industrial slurries ranging from dilute suspension systems to ultra high concentration non-Newtonian hydraulic systems. His main interests in research are modeling of commercial slurry flows and near wall lift of coarser particles in slurry pipeline, in which he has an international reputation and is coordinator of a research group investigating this area. He has designed 450 km long iron ore slurry pipeline from Bailadila (Chhattisgarh State) to Vizag (Andhra Pradesh) for M/s. NMDC Limited, Hyderabad; 230 km long phosphate slurry pipeline from KHOURIBGA to JORF LASFAR in Morocco; 115 km long XSTRATA LOMAS BAYAS Copper Concentrate Slurry Pipeline System for ALQUIMIA INGENIEROS, South America, Santiago, Chile; 18 km long Slurry Pipeline for Disposal of Iron Ore Tailings for BRPL Orissa and 9.5 km long iron ore slurry pipeline for JSW Banglore. He has authored several software packages including Slurry Pipeline Design Software that provide design solutions for flow of multi-sized particulate slurries through pipeline.
