After schooling in DTEA (Delhi Tamil Education Association), Lodi Road School (formerly known as MEA- Madrasi Education Association) for 11 years, in 1968 I joined for B. Sc. (Honours) degree and followed by M. Sc. degree in Physics in Delhi University. I completed my Ph. D. degree working in the area of fiber optics from the Physics Department, IIT Delhi in 1976 under the guidance of Professor Ajoy Ghatak. I then joined IIT Delhi in the faculty and ever since 1977 have been in this Institute.
