Here are some poems by my son Krishnan

NATURE: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

As the cloud upon Earth descends,
Through the valley a cool wave it sends.
It leaves no being asleep on the way,
And for all of them it starts the day.
The birds are chirping and the brook is gurgling,
Throughout the till then silent valley, they are echoing.
As the brooks are silently gurgling away,
It is a bright and sunny day.
Way up in the mountain the snow is melting,
And down in the valley the girl is singing.
The Deodar trees are as green as new,
And those not affected by the cloud are very few.
Near the brook which is running away,
A mother deer tells her fawn not to go astray.
Although the mountains and boulders are very old,
For the villagers they are as precious as gold.
In the meadows and the pastures, the sheep graze,
And on the rock, the shepherds laze.
The sun makes its presence felt,
And the snow heavily melts.
The sky and the snow cannot be differentiated,
To me they look one and cannot be separated.
As the rays of the sun on the lake shine,
I feel as though I am in a world, a world not mine.
The barren tree stretches its arms,
Like the big Deodars and the palms.
Near the snowcaps, I see a Lammergeyer,
It flies with no joy and no fear.
The trees seem to whisper amongst themselves,
'These are the mountains and here we dwell.'
The mountains and the scene lift you to a height,
A height, if you were not here, never reach might.
As the day proceeds and the sun sets below,
So far that the sky just seems to glow.
No shadow, no fear,
Not even the Lammergeyer.
Now it's the rooks' turn to caw away,
'I have found some carrion, Hurray! Hurray!'
The old woman and the girl go hand in hand,
The girl with a blue and white band.
As I stand on a hill not far away,
I see them going far, far away.
Although I did not see the lady or the bird soar,
In my heart all of them I bore.
The beauty and the joy was inexplicable.
I cannot tell, not even in the form of a table.
As I try to go away now,
I do not know from them I will part how.
The joy and the happiness will always remain.
And as I go down the memory lane,
I will remember the woman near the well,
And the owl hooting, 'All's well! All's well!'

Poem by Krishnan when my father passed away in August 2000

As I go down the memory lane,
I remember those times I didn't know pain.
We used to be fighting and playing,
And didn't care about what we were saying.
Those times we played hide and seek,
And across the boundary used to sneak.
But as we grew up we did realize,
That for every mistake you have to pay a price.
If we told a lie or made a fuss,
God was above watching us.
The little ups and downs of life,
The higher you want to go, the more you strive.
Neatness and cleanliness,
Politeness and friendliness,
These were the qualities taught in school,
We were told not to gamble or play pool.
But now as the sun sets the hard times have arrived,
And we look back and are relieved that we survived.
But every spring has a winter to come, and we have to make it pass,
Altogether, bad times don't always last.
Everyday you become closer to your graveyard,
And so watch your step, inch and yard.
Let us see what the future beholds,
As we are not of it foretold.
Let us pray to the god and only he,
'Please let us lead a happy life, thee'

Poem by Krishnan after a visit to Nice, France in the summer of 2001
NICE: A MEMORABLE HOLIDAY

Nice, in the area called Cote d'Azur,
Is the best place for one's holidays I assure.
Catch an EK-703 and reach,
The airport in Nice, which is near the beach.
As you take a u-turn to land at Nice,
You feel a funny yet warm tickle on your knees.
The excitement starts and you feel nice,
The smell of Pizza makes in your stomach run mice.
It's a pleasant, warm and sunny day,
It keeps you very happy and always gay.
Nice, in Greek means victory,
It is the right and beautiful name I see.
It is a place where fun never stops,
With it's bars, restaurants and open-air shops.
The Promenade des anglais is a huge big road,
It was a two metre wide path long before.
The Cours Saleya is next to sea,
With its busy shops with life as full as can be.
Zone Pietonne or the walking street,
Is where all the friends and relatives meet.
La Pizza and Le Quebec are two great restaurants,
Throughout your life you'll cherish these moments.
These are not enough to describe 'Victory'
If I do describe there would be volumes three.
With this I end the poem here,
Nice is far yet very dear.
If given a chance I would visit it again,
The place with sea, mountains and plains.
So book a flight and go to Nice,
It is the place where fun never does cease.

Attraction by WWF

Ever heard of WWF the world wrestling federation?
Well' it has attracted the whole new generation
The two very famous are the Triple H and the Rock
They do hurt each other with a finger fore leglock
Boom, Thud, They push each other down
The very clever ones are Doink the clowns
Two shows are Raw is War and Livewire
In which each wrestler is his own sire
The Rock comes in a big Limousine
One of the biggest ever seen
One wrestler holds the other ones leg
And for the release the other one has to beg
The referee counts One two and three
By that time the wrestles leg has to be free
With so many wrestlers there is a farm
Of animal like people who will do harm
So watch your step and see what you do
Or else You will become the rude very few
In this poem I have given you some advice
To be true follow this and you will be wise

Garden of roses

In the garden of your deeds
Are sown the seeds by you
Whether they grow into roses or weeds
Is decided by what you do
Your garden may be adorned with roses rich and rare
Or by weeds that grow in plenty and make the garden bare
If your actions are like a gardener who tends to his plants affectionately
Then the benefits of positive thoughts and actions you shall surely see
But if negative thoughts and deeds fill your mind and life
The small seeds that are yet to grow find it hard to survive
They grow up into monstrous, huge and ugly looking weeds
Which reflect your inner thoughts and your outer deeds
So let positive thoughts and deeds fill you up and your mind
That's what the seeds require and then you shall find
That your garden of deeds shall grow into a huge and lovely one
With roses that are the most fragrant bright and colourful under the sun.
