Faculty Research Award (2023) of IIT Delhi
Prof. D. Sundar has been awarded the prestigious 'Faculty Research Award' for the year 2023 of IIT Delhi. "The Prof. P.C.P. Bhatt Faculty Research Award is given for foundational and fundamental research contribution that may be theoretical or experimental, resulting in significant progress in answering (even partially) a long-standing open question or has the potential to work in a research area. This contribution need not have any immediate practical impact - however should have high intellectual appeal to the relevant field". "The qualifying work should have been published/performed within the past ten years. This award carries prize money of Rs. 2 lacs." Elected to the Fellowship of NASI (FNASc)
Prof. D. Sundar was elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) in recognition of his outstanding research contributions in the area of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The Fellow Induction Ceremony 2023 was held during the Annual Session of the National Academy of Sciences held at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai on December 03, 2023. Prof. Balram Bhargava (President of NASI) and Prof. Jayesh Bellare (General Secretary of NASI) presented the scrolls to the newly elected Fellows. |
Elected to the Fellowship of BRSI
Prof. D. Sundar was elected as a Fellow of the Biotech Research Society, India (BRSI) in recognition of his outstanding research contributions in the area of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The Fellow Induction Ceremony 2018 was held during the Annual Convention of the Society at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad on November 22, 2018. Dr. Shekhar Mande, Director General CSIR and Secretary, DSIR, Govt. of India presented the scrolls to the newly elected Fellows. |
DuPont Young Professor Award
Dr. D. Sundar has been selected as a 2013 DuPont Young Professor. He is one of the 14 successful Professors from seven countries around the world to earn this recognition. The awardees include 7 Professors from USA, one each from Germany, Sweden, Mexico, Brazil & India and 2 awardees from China. This global DuPont program, which began in 1968, is designed to identify promising researchers and promising science early in a new Professor's career and is administered by the DuPont Center for Collaborative Research and Education (USA). The awardee receives US$ 75,000 in three annual grants of US$ 25,000.

National Bioscience Award
Dr. D. Sundar receiving the "National Bioscience Award for Career Development - 2012" from Prof. K. Vijay Raghavan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and Shri. S. Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister for Science and Technology, Govt. of India in New Delhi on December 17, 2013. This award is instituted by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India for recognizing scientists below the age of 45 years, who have made outstanding contributions in frontier areas of biological sciences. The award carries a Cash Prize of Rs. 1 Lakh, a trophy along with a citation and financial support for a research grant for three years. Press release in DBT website on March 08, 2013 |
Young Researcher Award
Dr. D. Sundar received the "Lady Tata Memorial Trust' sponsored "Young Researcher Award" for the year 2011. This award is instituted by the Trust to recognize and reward one young Indian scientist each year, with an outstanding track record in biological sciences, a deep committment to find innovative solutions to major problems related to human diseases and the potential for high quality research. This five year fellowship carries a monthly honorarium of Rs. 25,000/- from the Trust, in addition to the regular salary received from the host Institute. The award also includes a contingency grant of Rs. 5.00 lakhs per annum for five years . Press release in LTMT website |
