Eulerian two-fluid simulations of gas-solid flow in a fluidized bed |
|
Eulerian two- or multi-fluid models have been used widely to simulate
gas-solid flow in fluidized beds. Fluidized beds are
inherently unsteady in nature and the bubble dynamics significantly
influences the performance of the fluidized bed reactor. Several
research efforts are ongoing to improve predictive capabilities of
Eulerian two- and multi-fluid models. In addition to time-averaged
hydrodynamic parameters (e.g. solid volume fraction, velocity, etc.),
the model should also be capable of predicting bubbling characteristics.
In most of the previous studies, the Eulerian two- or multi-fluid models
are validated using time-averaged velocity and solid volume fraction and
limited works are available on validation of the models using
instantaneous (time-resolved) measurements. We are working on validation
of two- and multi-fluid models by local instantaneous measurements using
time-resolved ECT for unary and binary gas-solid flow. |
