Multiphysics & Multiscale Mechanics Research Group (M3RG)

About M3RG

The research in M3RG focuses on understanding the response of materials across different length and time scales. For this, we rely heavily on machine learning and artificial intelligence, along with physics-based modeling and experiments.

The overarching theme of our research group is to develop an end-to-end framework for materials discovery, from design to deployment. This involves solving challenging problems in natural language processing, information extraction, atomistic simulations, continuum modeling, robotics, and experiments.

We address each of these verticals both in isolation and in combination to tackle the grand challenge of accelerating and democratizing materials discovery. This approach can have a significant impact on major challenges including climate change, energy, sustainability, and healthcare.
